Summary
The story “Troll Bridge” by Neil Gaiman follows moments in Jack’s life from the time he was seven years old to the times he reaches middle-age. Jack, who narrates the story, starts the narrative one summer when he gets lost in a forest nearby his home and meets a troll under a bridge. The troll wants to eat the life out of Jack. The boy first tries to trick the troll by offering his older sister – who is actually younger than him and away from home – then by offering him some volcano rocks. But the troll can smell the lies on Jack. Eventually, the boy convinces the troll not to eat him by saying that he will return when he is older and has accumulated enough experience.
Time goes by, the area where Jack lives changes as a result of industrialisation and the boy is now a fifteen-year-old tee...
